Download: Values & Goals Worksheet (for Filmmakers)
Written By: Jon Bregel - Founder, Filmmaker & Coach, Nourish
Inspired by my recent conversation about “aligning vision and values” with Director Goh Iromoto (Ep. #33, below), I’m sharing the Values & Goals Worksheet. I normally use to kick-off my one-on-one coaching clients. While it’s designed to support guided coaching, it can also be a helpful starting point for anyone looking to reflect more deeply and move toward a more intentional, creative, and fulfilling path.
If you haven’t already, listen to Episode #33 of the Nourish Podcast w/ director Goh Iromoto on Apple and Spotify, here: https://lnk.bio/thenourish.community
In the episode, Goh and I talk about how deeply personal values shape not just the work we make, but how we move through the world as filmmakers. That conversation serve as a great reminder of how essential it is to get clear on your values if you want to move through this industry (and life) with clarity and intention.

Why This Matters for Filmmakers
One of the most powerful tools I’ve seen filmmakers use to grow towards more creatively fulfilling careers and lives is clarity on their core values. Your values act like an internal compass. They help you say yes to the right opportunities, and no to the ones that quietly pull you off course.
The beautiful thing about values is that they’re yours. In advertising talk, they are your "unique differentiators!" You have the ability to define and reshape them. And when you start living them, really embodying them through action, that’s when they stick. That’s when your path starts to feel aligned, and purposeful.
What’s Inside the Values & Goals Worksheet
• Begin to identify the values that actually matter most to you
• Prioritize them in a way that creates clarity
• Set aligned goals that you can actually act on
• Build a more intentional filmmaking life, from the inside out
If you’ve ever felt stuck, scattered, or unsure about your next step, this assessment will give you a grounded first step move forward.

I’ll leave this post with the idea that our values aren’t just lofty ideas; they’re how you live.
And when your actions align with your values, not only are you causing yourself as little suffering as possible in the long term; your goals eventually stop feeling like a grind, and start becoming an expression of who you really are.
This stuff takes time and intention, but it all begins with taking a few minutes to reflect on what is most meaningful to you.
Let me know what comes up for you if you dive in, I’d love to hear how it lands.
